Medical-Surgical Nursing, for example, consistently carries the heaviest weight in the NRE. If you spent three months deep in Pharmacology and only skimmed Med-Surg, your study hours were not aligned with where the points actually live.

Lifestyle Sleep Deprivation and Physical Neglect

The review period culture in the Philippines often glorifies all-nighters and marathon study sessions as proof of dedication. Neuroscience says otherwise. Sleep is when your brain consolidates everything you learned during the day — it is literally when new memories are locked in. Chronically shortchanging sleep during a review period means your brain never properly stores what you studied.

Candidates who sleep fewer than six hours regularly during review perform measurably worse on recall tasks than those who sleep seven to eight hours — even if the sleep-deprived group studied more total hours. More hours awake is not the same as more learning.

  • Maintain a consistent 7–8 hour sleep schedule throughout your review

Isolated, self-directed study feels comfortable because there is no one to judge your gaps or question your pace.
